I've been working on a spoof for a while now, and here it is, so far! I hope that you like it, and make sure to listen to it more than once P: You just might discover something you hadn't before P: Here are the lyrics:

Wake up in the morning feeling like a Droid
Grab my Magic, I'm out the door, I'm gonna hit the mall
Before I leave, brush my teeth with an Android app
Because if you didn't know, their is an app for that

I'm talking apps on all my screens, screens
Even on my iPod, Pod
Tweets blowing up my phone, phone
I'm dancing, playing all my MP3s
Tweeting about all 'dem parties
Wanna become a trending topic.

Don't stop, make it pop
iZ, blow all YouTube up
Tonight, I'mma vlog
'Til we see no battery life
Tick tock charging up
But my Droid will never stop, just go

Don't stop, make it pop
iZ, blow all YouTube up
Tonight, I'mma vlog
'Til we see no battery life
Tick tock charging up
But my Droid will never stop, just go

Ain't got a care in world, but my battery life
Ain't got no more on my Droid, but I found the last plug
And now, the gals are lining up cause they hear I got power
But I kick em to the curb unless they all use a Mac

I'm talking about everybody getting juice, juice
Gals tryin' to touch my cord, cord
Gonna smack 'em  if they're getting too close, close

Now, now, we charge until they kick us out, out
Or hydro shut us down, down
Hydro shut us down, down
Ho-ho shut me

Don't stop, make it pop
iZ, blow all YouTube up
Tonight, I'mma vlog
'Til we see no battery life
Tick tock charging up
But my Droid will never stop, just go

Don't stop, make it pop
iZ, blow all YouTube up
Tonight, I'mma vlog
'Til we see no battery life
Tick tock charging up
But my Droid will never stop, just go

iZ, you charge me up
You wear me down
My screen changes with every tweet

With my apps up
You got me now
I'm not rooted,
don't judge me

You charge me up
You wear me down
My screen changes with every tweet

With my apps on
With my apps on
With my apps on

Now, the party don't start 'til I press record

Don't stop, make it pop
iZ, blow all YouTube up
Tonight, I'mma vlog
'Til we see no battery life
Tick tock charging up
But my Droid will never stop, just go

Don't stop, make it pop
iZ, blow all YouTube up
Tonight, I'mma vlog
'Til we see no battery life
Tick tock charging up
But my Droid will never stop, just go

It’s not everyday that we can say there’s external laptop GPU love in the air, but right on the heels the appearance of the Gigabyte M1405 with its GeForce GT220 dock, NVIDIA is expressing interest in external laptop GPUs as well. Manager of notebook GPUs Rene Haas told X-bit Labs that he thinks external graphics adapters for laptops are a “big opportunity” for NVIDIA, though he noted the drawback of their high price tags. We assume he is referring to AMD’s ATI XGP box (or Fujitsu Siemen’s Lasso) which is the only one available — the ASUS XG station (pictured above) that seemed to vanish into thin air after its brief appearance at CES 2008. Either way, Haas very clearly states that the large market appeal of affordable external GPUs is just his opinion, though we’re going to assume his opinion holds a bit of water in Santa Clara.

We knew Android 2.1 was coming for the Droid, but we’ll confess — we didn’t expect it to come this soon. Motorola is now reporting via its official Facebook page that it’s “happy to relay the 2.1 upgrade to Droid will start to roll out this week,” going on to tease that it “will have more information to share on other device upgrades later.” There’s no detail on what the Droid update will entail or whether it’ll roll out to every user this week (we doubt it), but by all indications, this is a promising sign that Moto’s keeping the pedal to the metal, we’d say.

So the good news here is that Google appears to have heard the cries for help, having taken a chainsaw to its brutal $350 “equipment recovery fee” that had been lumped on top of T-Mobile’s $200 ETF for subsidized Nexus One contracts canceled in the first 120 days. The bad news, though, is that it still exists at all — a hairy precedent for an industry beingwatched with eagle eyes by the FCC right now. The company has knocked $200 off the fee, bringing it down to $150; in other words, if you break your contract, you’ll pay the same ETF thatVerizon now charges on its “advanced devices.” Whether that was a deliberate move to let ‘em say that they’re no more expensive than Verizon is unclear, but let’s be honest: $350 is extreme, $550 was highway robbery. At least we’re going in the right direction.

The ironclad legitimacy of this slide can’t be confirmed, but considering what we know and what we’ve heard about T-Mobile USA’s plans for the next few months, we can totally buy what we’re seeing here. The PowerPoint masterpiece — which showed up on a PPCGeeks forum thread recently — has the midrange Android-powered Motorola Zeppelin as the “CLIQ XT” with a target launch of March 10, giving customers already flush with choices yet another way to get their Google on. Next, the Nokia “Nuron” (which looks an awful lot like a 5230 to us) is being billed as a “low-cost touchscreen” with 3G and Ovi Store access for a March 17 date with destiny, and finally, the mighty HD2 – which we already know is coming to T-Mobile — is said to be ready come March 24. Now, don’t get us wrong, the HD2 is a helluva phone — but if Windows Mobile 7 is really unveiled in a few days at MWC like everyone expects, that’s going to make the launch of a high-end 6.5 device just a little anticlimactic.

Ingenious, eco-friendly concepts are all around us, there’s no denying that. This one caught our eye because it’s pretty innovative, seemingly well thought out, and good looking to boot. The Turbine Light concept (which is going to be a part of the upcoming Greener Gadgets conference in New York City at the end of this month) harnesses the power of the wind from cars rushing past to light up the ever-darkening roadways. The turbines use the wind collected to generate energy for the lighting, and while the concept lacks a lot of firm details so far, but we’re sure to find out more about it soon — we’ll be sure to check them out at the conference on February 25th. Hit the source link to see more concepts, along with other people and companies who will be there.

We wrote about a few devices that both Rogers and Fido will be getting this quarter, but it’s always nice to get some conformation! Thanks to our friends over at Future Shop and their Cellshop magazine we see a couple new devices: Samsung Flight and the Motorola W388.

The Samsung Flight will be available through Rogers and the design looks very much like a Palm Pre. It has the same overall shape with a slide out QWERTY keyboard and has a 2.8 inch touchscreen display (resolution of 240×320). The Flight also has a 2 megapixel camerawith video capabilities and can hold up to 16GB with a mictoSD card. Overall dimensions are 4.17 x 2.2 x 0.5 inches and weighs in at 136 grams. Princing should come in under the $99.99 mark on a 3-year contract.

Fido will be releasing the Motorola W388 and is a basic entry phone that kinda looks like the Renew but without any of the feel good recycling aspects. The W388 has a 1.8 inch display (resolution of 128 x 160), 2.5mm headset jack, dedicated music key and can hold up to 2GB with a microSD card. This also comes with a very basic 0.3 megapixels VGA camera, digital zoom with no video capabilities. Overall dimensions are 4.29 x 1.81 x 0.58 inches with a weight of 92 grams. Rumoured pricing is $15 on a 2-year contract and $65 Month-to-Month/Prepaid

More soon!

So what’s it like to be one of 200 people in the world to own the $12,950 Leica M7 Hermes? Quite good, as it turns out. Vlad Dusil (that’s his name, so you know where to direct your envy) of Purse Blog is among the chosen few, but he has blessed us with a quick photoshoot and a cursory impressions piece of the hardware itself. He isn’t gonna use it, mind you, as it’s an investment piece — in his words, “This camera will remain in its cozy silk-lined box until I get a worthy cabinet to display it in for a while, then it will go back to rest in its dark box.” Can’t be sure we wouldn’t do the same thing, though, if we had the kind of disposable income that’d afford a $13,000 device. Hit up the source link for pics.

The feds simply aren’t backing down from their incessant warnings of a wireless broadband spectrum crunch the likes of which the world has never seen, and they’ve seemingly found a great vehicle — the iPad– to help spread the message just a little further (and at a higher volume) than before. This time around, it’s the Omnibus Broadband Initiative’s director of scenario planning Phil Bellaria who’s sounding the alarm, saying that the iPad foretells “even greater demand for mobile broadband on the horizon” and asking that the people with the money and the power (the carriers and the FCC, respectively) do what it takes to make sure that the nation’s broadband infrastructure and policy are appropriately managed in light of that. Perhaps most provocative is his statement that “reaching an always-on wireless broadband future means that the spectrum can no longer remain attached solely to uses deemed valuable decades ago,” possibly a veiled reference to the FCC’s ongoing spat with TV broadcasters over the future of over-the-air broadcasts. Free TV or an iPad with a fast, functional browsing experience — if it came down to it, which would you prefer?
